PATRICIO GUZMÁN

Born August 11th, 1941, Patricio Guzman is one of Chile’s most notable film directors and a leading figure in documentary filmmaking worldwide. His films focus on Chile’s political history as well as present history, synthesizing the consequences of Pinochet’s dictatorship with Chile’s natural elements of dessert, ocean, cordillera and sky. Since his exile from Chile in 1973, Guzman has lived and worked in Paris, returning occasionally to his home country to make documentary films.
